Setting Up Video Visits at Durham County: Schedule, App Requirements, and Why Android Is Recommended
Durham County Detention Facility offers video visitation as another way to stay connected with someone in custody. It’s an option you can use in addition to in-person visits - it doesn’t replace them - and the facility states that video visits are free.
The good news is you don’t have to learn a whole separate system for video. If you want to schedule a video visit, you’ll register and schedule it the same way you would for an in-person visit.
Schedule
- ✓ Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
For remote/internet video visits, plan on using the facility’s visitation app. You’ll need to download it on the device you’re going to use for the visit - whether that’s a desktop computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Device tip: The app works on both Android and Apple, but the facility recommends Android for remote visits.
- Register first - Before you can schedule any visit, you have to register and create an account. You can do that online or at the kiosk in the detention facility lobby.
- Schedule your video visit - Once you’re registered, schedule your video visit using the same process used for in-person visitation.
