Video Visits with IDOC (ICSolutions): How to Register, Schedule, and What to Expect

IDOC uses ICSolutions for video visitation at all facilities except Adult Transition Centers. To schedule a video visit, you'll need to register with ICSolutions first. Visits are booked through friends and family accounts, so setting up your account is step one before you can pick a time.

Here's the planning rule that catches most people: IDOC video visits must be scheduled at least seven days in advance. If you're hoping to talk "this week," that seven-day requirement is probably why you're not seeing any available times. Start looking as early as you can and build that week-long buffer into your plans.

There's also a daily cap: an individual in custody may receive only one video visit per day. If someone else already booked a visit for that day, you'll need to choose a different date.

Looking at the full week, an individual in custody may receive only two video visits per week. Even visits during restrictive housing count toward that same two-per-week limit. Coordinating with other family members helps - otherwise the week's visits can get used up before everyone has a chance to connect.

IDOC video visits are monitored live and recorded. If there's a rule violation or inappropriate conduct, the visit can be terminated immediately - with or without warning. Serious issues may also lead to suspension of future visitation privileges. The safest approach: treat every video visit like you're on speakerphone in a public place. Keep the conversation appropriate from the moment the call connects.
