What to Bring (and What to Leave) for a Visiting Room Visit at East Moline
Packing for a visit at East Moline is easier when you know what's allowed in the Visiting Room—and what isn't. Use this checklist so you don't get turned away at the door.
Prohibited Items
- ✓ Cell phones, pagers, or any other electronic devices
- ✓ Food or drink
- ✓ Smoking materials
- ✓ Currency (cash)
- ✓ Packages
- ✓ Purses
- ✓ Bags or sacks
- ✓ Books or magazines
- ✓ Sunglasses
- ✓ Personal keys
Note: Small lockers are available at no charge, so you can store personal items before you enter the Visiting Room.
Keep jewelry simple. You can wear two rings total (including a wedding ring), one pair of earrings, and only piercings that can't be removed. Extra rings or multiple earring sets? Leave them at home - it's easier than sorting through everything at the entrance.
Expect screening at check-in. Officers at the Visitor Center will conduct a body search before you're allowed into the Visiting Room. Wearing simple clothing and bringing as little as possible makes this go faster.
Reminder: If you’re intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or drugs, you won’t be permitted to enter.
You can't hand over items during a visit - even if you're trying to help. Clothing, jewelry, books, magazines, paperwork: none of it can be passed to incarcerated individuals. If you brought something to give, leave it secured outside the Visiting Room.
You can only visit one incarcerated individual per visit. Need to see more than one person? You'll need prior written approval from the Chief Administrative Officer.
Visits can be denied, and visiting privileges can be temporarily restricted for up to six months. If that happens, both you and the incarcerated person will receive written notification - so you won't be left wondering what went wrong.
