How to Apply for Visiting Approval at WERDCC: Step-by-Step Online Application Guide
Before you can visit someone at WERDCC, you need to get approved through Missouri DOC's visiting application. The online form is straightforward once you know what to expect.
You can't just show up. WERDCC requires all visitors to be pre-approved before any visit can happen. Apply first, wait for approval, then schedule your visit.
- ✓ The offender’s Department of Corrections Identification Number (DOC ID)
- ✓ Time to complete every field marked with an asterisk (*) - those are required before you can submit
Note for minor visitors: In the Identification Number section, choose “other” for Type and enter “NA” for Number.
The online application focuses on two things: identifying the person you want to visit and filling out every required field. Have the offender's DOC ID ready before you start. Take your time and catch every field marked with an asterisk (*) - the form won't submit without them.
- Enter the offender’s DOC ID - you’ll need it to submit the application.
- Handle the Identification Number section correctly for minors - if the visitor is a minor, choose “other” under Type and enter “NA” under Number.
- Complete every required (*) field - the form won’t submit if any starred fields are left blank.
- Agree to follow visiting regulations (including search) - submission requires you to agree to comply with all visiting rules, including search.
Before you click Finish: Double-check that every (*) field is filled in and that you’ve agreed to comply with all visiting regulations (including search).
Once you click Finish, your application goes straight to the institutional case manager for processing. It doesn't sit in a general queue.
Part of the review includes a criminal history check. This is standard, so expect some time between submission and a final decision.
When your application is approved, the offender gets notified - not you. They're responsible for letting you know you've been cleared to visit.
DOC ID problems slow everything down: You must have the offender’s DOC ID to submit the online application, so confirm you’re entering the correct number before you start.
Starred fields aren’t optional: Any field marked with an asterisk (*) has to be completed before the form will submit.
Minor visitor mismatch: If the visitor is a minor, use “other” for Type and “NA” for Number in the Identification Number area to avoid a preventable snag.
Stuck on the application or wondering about your status? Contact the offender's residing institution. That's where the case manager handles applications.
