Let's Start Bus Trip & Girl Scouts Beyond Bars: Special Monthly Visiting Programs at WERDCC

WERDCC offers two special monthly visiting programs. Girl Scouts Beyond Bars visits happen on the 4th Saturday of each month. Let's Start Bus Trip visits fall on the 4th Sunday. Both run during the facility's afternoon visiting session, so plan your arrival around that afternoon window.

Note: WERDCC's Saturday afternoon session runs 2:30 pm–6:30 pm. The facility also lists a Sunday morning session (9:30 am–1:30 pm) for treatment/diagnostic/TCU and no-contact visits. If the "4th Sunday afternoon" timing doesn't match what you're told, confirm the exact time with the institution before you travel.

These aren't random extra visiting days. They're built around two named programs: Girl Scouts Beyond Bars and the Let's Start Bus Trip. If you're coordinating family or community-based visits, these monthly dates make good anchor points - they repeat on the same weekend every month.

Even though these are special programs, they still follow WERDCC's regular visiting structure. The Saturday afternoon session (2:30 pm–6:30 pm) is designated for treatment, diagnostic, and TCU offenders plus no-contact visits - and it's limited to immediate family only for treatment & diagnostic offenders. Because sessions can be tied to specific offender categories, confirm who's eligible to attend these program visits before you make the trip.

WERDCC confirms these program visits occur monthly, but sign-up steps aren't spelled out on the schedule. Your safest move: contact the institution directly (or ask your loved one to check with her case manager) to confirm the date, time, and any program-specific requirements. Plan ahead for approval too. Visitors must be pre-approved through a visiting application, which includes a criminal history check. Don't wait until the week of the 4th weekend to get started.

  • Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before visiting starts.
  • Expect entry to be first-come, first-served.
  • Don’t leave any person or pet in the vehicle on institutional grounds during visiting.
  • Don’t wear skirts, dresses, or shorts shorter than the top of the kneecap when standing.
  • Avoid wrap-around or slit skirts/dresses, and don’t wear pants with holes or slits.
  • Choose tops that fully cover the chest/cleavage, back, and stomach, with sleeves that cover the shoulders.
