Setting Up Video Visits with Your Loved One at EKCC
Video visits at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex (EKCC) are straightforward once you know the timing and what information needs to match for approval. Here's what you need to plan your request so it goes through without issues.
Video visits at EKCC run Monday through Friday, 6:30pm to 8:30pm. No weekend sessions - plan for weekday evenings and pick a time within that two-hour window.
Each video visit is 25 minutes long. Because the sessions are fixed-length, it helps to be ready to start on time so you don’t lose part of your visit to last-minute setup.
You can schedule a video visit up to 30 days in advance, but your request must be submitted at least 48 hours before your chosen date. Miss that cutoff and the date won't be available. If you have a specific day in mind, don't wait.
You're the one who initiates the request. Don't wait for your loved one inside to "send" you a video visit - scheduling starts on your end.
Your information needs to match exactly what EKCC has on file from in-person visiting - specifically how it appears in KOMS. A misspelled name, nickname instead of legal name, or mismatched details can block your approval on the Securus site until the record is corrected.
General Population inmates at EKCC get three video visits per month. These are separate from in-person visits - they also get three of those monthly, so video visits are an addition, not a replacement.
