Visiting at ERDCC takes some planning, but it's manageable once you know the schedule. Here's what you need to know about visit days, session times, and arrival rules—so you don't get turned away after a long drive.
ERDCC offers in-person visiting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. No other days. If you're picking when to go, plan around those three.
Visits are split into two sessions: morning runs 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and afternoon runs 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pick the one that works best with your drive time and schedule - just make sure you can arrive, park, and check in without cutting it close.
Don't show up hours early expecting to wait on site. Visitors can arrive in the ERDCC parking lot no earlier than 30 minutes before their session starts. If you get there too soon, you'll need to wait off grounds until you're within that window.
Heads-up: Entry is first-come, first-served. Arriving right when that 30-minute window opens can make a difference.
Warning: No one - and no pets - can stay in a vehicle on institutional grounds. Don't plan on someone waiting in the car while you visit.
Before you make the trip, make sure you're actually cleared to visit. ERDCC requires pre-approval through a visiting application, which includes a criminal history check. Handle this first - otherwise you could drive all the way there and still get turned away at the door.
