Setting Up Video Visits and Phone Calls Through HomeWAV at Emanuel County Jail

Emanuel County Jail runs video visitation through HomeWAV - both on-site visits and remote sessions. Phone calls also go through HomeWAV Voice, which is built into the same system. Once you're set up, you can manage visits and calls from one account.

  1. Create your HomeWAV account before you try to visit - Emanuel County Jail requires visitors to have an account set up on the HomeWAV website ahead of time.
  2. Keep your login for your use only - during the visit, you’ll need to be logged in under your own credentials.
  3. Make sure your loved one uses their own credentials, too - the inmate must also be logged in under their individual credentials for the visit; visits aren’t meant to be shared between accounts.

Bringing someone under 18 for an on-site visit? They'll need to come with an adult who already has a HomeWAV account. No account means no visit - so get that set up beforehand.

You're responsible for scheduling, and both on-site and remote video visits are available through HomeWAV. Before planning around work, school, or a long drive, check the current schedule and any approval requirements in HomeWAV - or call the jail directly. Schedules and limits can change, and some details on the jail's HomeWAV handout may be filled in locally.

Note: When you use the jail’s video visitation equipment, you’re subject to recording and monitoring.

  • Leave recording devices, cell phones, and cameras in your vehicle (they aren’t allowed in the visitation area)
  • Dress appropriately; if you’re unsure, aim for clothing that would be suitable to wear around small children

Follow the conduct rules during video visits. Flashing, obscene behavior, or similar violations can get you permanently blocked from all future visits. Once that happens, it's hard to undo.

For phone calls, inmates use HomeWAV Voice through the video visitation system. One common issue: HomeWAV Voice can't call pagers or certain internet phone services. If calls aren't coming through, check whether your number type is compatible.

  1. Add funds online as a guest - you can put money on the inmate’s phone account through the HomeWAV website using the “Deposit Funds as Guest” option.
  2. Add funds at the jail lobby kiosk - you can also come on-site and use the HomeWAV kiosk located in the Emanuel County Jail lobby.
