How Family Members Can Report Sexual Abuse at Escambia County Jail — Contacts, Anonymous Options, and What Happens Next
If you suspect someone at Escambia County Jail is experiencing sexual abuse or harassment, you can report it from outside the facility. Your loved one also has options to report anonymously from inside. Here are the official contacts, support resources, and what happens after a report is filed.
Family members, friends, legal counsel, or anyone outside the facility can report a PREA-related concern on behalf of an inmate. The county offers three ways to do this: email, phone, or mail. For the fastest written report, email prea@myescambia.com. Prefer to talk to someone? Call (850) 436-9830. You can also mail a letter to: Escambia County Jail PREA Coordinator, 3080 N Pace Blvd, Pensacola, Florida 32505.
To ask questions, share concerns, or report directly to the facility's PREA point of contact, reach out to Lt. Dustin Parazine, the listed PREA Coordinator. His direct line is 850-436-0208.
If your loved one is the person being abused - or has information but fears being identified - they can report anonymously through the inmate phone system. The number is *7732 (*PREA), which connects to Lakeview Center Victim Services. According to Escambia County, abuse and rape crisis hotline calls from inmate housing areas are toll-free and non-recorded. If you're supporting someone from the outside, let them know about this option if they want to report without going through staff.
Immigration hold option: Detainees with immigration holds can call the ICE Community and Detainee Helpline at 1-888-351-4024. The line is non-recorded, staffed by live operators Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), with language assistance available, including Spanish.
Once a report is filed, the facility treats the information as confidential. Details - including the victim's identity and the specifics of the report - are shared only with officials who need the information for welfare decisions or law enforcement investigations.
Retaliation by inmates or staff against anyone involved in reporting or investigating sexual abuse is prohibited. The PREA Coordinator is supposed to meet regularly with victims after an allegation to monitor for retaliation and ensure their safety.
Inmates who report sexual abuse receive medical care. With the inmate's permission, they may be transported to a local hospital for a private sexual assault examination, including testing, counseling, and treatment. Once the inmate returns to the facility, the jail provides follow-up medical and mental health care.
When an allegation can't be ruled out by video evidence, the facility's procedure requires specific steps. Staff must complete an incident report, notify the Shift Supervisor and Shift OIC, and log the incident as a Critical Event in JMS. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office must also be notified, following the department's procedures for critical event and major incident reporting.
Lakeview Center Victim Services is listed as a resource for emotional support. You can reach them at (850) 469-3800. Their address is 1201 W Lakeview Ave, Bldg. H, Pensacola, FL 32501. For inmates calling from housing areas, abuse and rape crisis hotline calls are toll-free and non-recorded.
- Write down the basics first - the inmate’s name, any dates/times you were told, where in the jail it happened (if known), and who was involved (staff or inmates, if your loved one shared names).
- Choose an outside reporting method - email prea@myescambia.com, call (850) 436-9830, or mail a letter to Escambia County Jail PREA Coordinator, 3080 N Pace Blvd, Pensacola, Florida 32505.
- Keep a simple record of what you sent - save the email you sent or note the date/time you called, plus who you spoke with (if you were given a name).
- Encourage the inmate to use the anonymous line if they want - they can call *7732 (*PREA) on the inmate telephone system to reach Lakeview Center Victim Services.
Note: PREA reports are handled confidentially on a need-to-know basis, and retaliation is prohibited. If you're concerned about safety after filing a report, ask to speak with the PREA Coordinator about retaliation monitoring.
