How to Get Approved to Visit Someone at Farmington Correctional Center

You'll need to be pre-approved before visiting anyone at Farmington Correctional Center. The Missouri Department of Corrections runs a criminal history check as part of the process, so take your time with the form. Rushing through it - or leaving things out - can lead to delays or a denial.

Here's one limit to know upfront: you can generally only be approved to visit one offender. The exception? If you're immediate family to more than one person incarcerated in the system, you may be able to visit multiple people.

1. Go to the Missouri DOC online visiting application site - This is the starting point for the Friends and Family online visitor application.
2. Enter the offender’s ID number - The application process begins by typing in the offender’s DOC ID.
3. Fill out the required fields - Complete all fields marked with an asterisk (*). Those are required.
4. Submit the application - Once everything is complete, submit the form for review.

Once you submit your application, the facility reviews it and runs a criminal history check. This is standard, but processing time depends on how quickly everything can be verified.

If you're approved, the offender gets notified - and they're responsible for letting you know. So if you're waiting to plan a trip, hold off until you hear directly from your loved one that you've been added to their approved visiting list.

Denied? You can appeal, but you need to act within 30 days. Send your appeal letter to: Missouri Department of Corrections, Attn: Deputy Division Director of Adult Institutions, 2729 Plaza Drive, PO Box 236, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

If you don't appeal - or if the denial stands - you're not permanently blocked. You can reapply for visiting status after one year.

Once you're approved, check the schedule before planning your drive. Farmington Correctional Center holds visiting sessions Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are two time blocks each day: 9:30am–1:30pm and 2:30pm–6:30pm.

The afternoon session changes depending on the week. On the 1st and 3rd weekends, afternoon visits are food visits. On the 2nd and 4th weekends, afternoon sessions are restricted to treatment offenders only. The "best" weekend to visit depends on your loved one's status.
