What You Can and Cannot Bring to a Visit at Farmington Correctional Center

You'll need a valid photo ID to enter Farmington Correctional Center. A current driver's license or Department of Revenue ID works - just make sure it's not expired.

Teens ages 13–18 need ID too. Farmington accepts a current school photo ID with the student's name, or any valid federal or state government-issued ID.

Anyone under 18 must come with an authorized adult visitor - unless they're married to the offender. Planning a family visit? Double-check that the accompanying adult is on the approved list before you go.

Life-sustaining medication and medical equipment are allowed, but there are rules. Items like nitroglycerin, insulin and supplies, oxygen, or asthma inhalers must be in the original container with only the dosage you'll need during the visit.

  • Notify the offender’s case manager in advance that you’ll need medication during visitation.
  • Tell staff when you arrive that you have a medical need during the visit.
  • Bring medication/approved life-sustaining supplies in the original container, with only what you need for the visiting period.

Expect screening when you arrive. You, your packages, your children, and your vehicle are all subject to search. Metal detectors are used at every facility. The easiest way to speed through? Bring only what you truly need.

You may also go through an Itemizer screening. Staff will hand you a towelette to wipe the front of your shirt, your pockets, and your palms. The towelette goes into a machine that detects traces of narcotics or explosives.

Dress conservatively. Tight or excessively baggy clothing isn't allowed, and neither is anything transparent or revealing.

Approved for an incentive food visit? Container rules are strict. You can bring up to four containers of food, and each must be clear plastic, no larger than 9x9x4 inches.

Note: For incentive food visits, all food you bring must comply with security regulations, so expect screening and restrictions on what will be accepted.

Warning: Under Missouri statute 217.360, bringing drugs, alcoholic beverages, firearms, or other prohibited items into a correctional facility is a criminal offense and may be a felony punishable by up to 15 years.
