The visiting area at Foothills Corrections Institute is in the administrative building. Before you can visit in person, you'll need to be on the incarcerated person's approved visitor list. The process works like this: the incarcerated person requests visitor application forms and mails them to the people they want to add. You complete the questionnaire, return it as instructed, and wait for approval. North Carolina prisons may offer both in-person and video visits, but schedules, formats, and visitor eligibility vary by facility, so check before you go. Whether your visit is contact or non-contact depends on housing, security classification, or disciplinary status. Some people may be limited to non-contact or video-only visits.

Foothills Correctional Institution runs a cashless canteen system. Incarcerated people buy approved items using a debit-type card tied to their inmate trust (commissary) account. Money you send goes into that account for purchases and other approved debits. Any remaining balance is returned when the person is released or transferred. You can make deposits through approved third-party channels used in North Carolina: online or mobile apps, phone deposits, walk-in kiosks or retail locations, third-party cash-deposit services, or mailed money orders. To avoid delays, enter the person's full booked name and inmate or account number exactly as shown. If mailing a money order, use the required payee name, include any required deposit slip, and skip the letters, photos, or other extras.
