How to Schedule Your First Visit at Garland County Detention Center

Scheduling a visit at Garland County Detention Center starts with the inmate, not you. They'll create a visitation account on Smart.JailMail.com and send you a connection request. Once you approve it, they can book a visit. SmartInmate (by Smart Communications) handles all visitation connections here. Creating an account is free and takes just a few minutes. The key thing: you can't skip this step. Your approval unlocks the scheduling process.

Create Account

  • A free SmartInmate/Smart.JailMail account (sign-up is free)
  • A way to receive and approve the inmate’s connection request after they send it
  • The inmate’s name (so you can confirm you’re connecting to the right person before scheduling)

Once the inmate sets up their account on Smart.JailMail.com, they'll send you a connection request. Approve it. This step is required - scheduling won't move forward until you accept.

Whether you're visiting on-site at the detention center or remotely from home, all appointments go through the video visitation vendor. Book at least 24 hours ahead. Walk-ins aren't an option - you need a scheduled appointment.

Need to book an on-site visit quickly? The facility has visitation terminals that let you schedule 24 hours in advance - if they're available. Terminals can be in high demand, so plan ahead when possible.

Cost note: Remote visits have a fee. Check the video visitation vendor's website for current pricing.

  1. Arrive 15 minutes early - You must be at the detention center 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
  2. Go to the correct location - Proceed to 3564 Albert Pike Road (HWY 270 W), Hot Springs, AR 71913.
  3. Check in with the receptionist - Tell the receptionist you’re there for a visit and provide the inmate’s name.

If you're late: You may only get a partial visit - and only if space is available. Arrive at least 15 minutes early.
