How to Schedule Your First Visit to Glossbrenner Using the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler
Scheduling your first visit at the Glossbrenner Unit comes down to getting your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account set up right. This guide covers creating your account, completing the questionnaire and profile fields, adding the person you want to visit, requesting approval, and booking your time slot - plus how to avoid the setup errors that trip people up.
You’ll need to create your own account in the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler. TDCJ staff can’t create visitor accounts for you, so plan to do this yourself on a device where you can access your email and finish the setup in one sitting. Once your account exists, staff may be able to assist with updating certain information (like names and addresses), but the account creation step is on you.
Pick your email address carefully. Once an account is created, that email can't be changed - and the account can't be deleted. Use a long-term personal email you control, not a work or school address you might lose access to later.
- Start account creation with your email - On the scheduler login screen, use the option to create an account and submit a valid email address.
- Open the registration email - The system will send you an email that includes a 7-digit validation code and a registration link.
- Use the link and code to finish setup - Follow the registration link, enter the 7-digit code when prompted, and continue to the password step.
Take your time on the password screen and enter it the same way twice. The scheduler uses that registration link and 7-digit validation code to move you through setup. A simple typo in the confirmation field can stall you right at the finish line.
After setting your password, you'll land on the Background Questionnaire. Answer every question - the system won't let you continue until this section is complete. Skip anything, and you're stuck. No finished questionnaire means no visit scheduling.
Profile Phone ID
- ✓ Enter your telephone number as XXX XXX XXXX (use spaces, no dashes).
Two things cause the most first-time frustration: an incomplete Background Questionnaire and phone number formatting. The scheduler expects every questionnaire field answered, and it wants your phone number typed with spaces (not dashes). If you hit a save error in your profile, check those two things first.
- Open the option to add an inmate - In your visitor profile, use the Add Inmate function to pull up the search window.
- Search using a TDCJ number or SID number - You can use either one, but it must be exactly 8 digits long.
- Confirm you selected the right person - Once the search returns the correct match, choose your relationship from the dropdown and continue.
- If you don’t know the 8-digit number - Use TDCJ’s Offender Search feature to look it up before you try again.
After selecting your relationship and clicking
When you're ready to book, you'll pick from the visit types the scheduler shows you: Regular, Contact, or Video/Tablet. Don't expect to see every option every time. What's available depends on your verified relationship, how the facility's visitation area works, and the inmate's current privileges.
Can't book anything yet? Think about timing. Your visitor request goes to the unit for verification first. Until staff confirm the relationship, you may not be able to schedule - or you might see fewer visit types. Even after approval, the system can limit options based on the unit's setup and the inmate's privileges. It's normal for choices to vary.
Troubleshoot
- ✓ You didn’t get the registration email - re-check the inbox for the message with the 7-digit validation code and registration link, then use that link to finish setup.
- ✓ Your phone number won’t save - make sure it’s typed as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces and no dashes.
- ✓ You can’t move past setup - go back and answer every question in the Background Questionnaire.
- ✓ The inmate search won’t work - confirm you’re using a TDCJ or SID number that’s exactly 8 digits long.
