Setting Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (and Why Your Email Choice Matters)
Setting up your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account is straightforward, but a few details trip people up—especially the email you choose. Here's how to create your account, answer the background questions, and avoid common mistakes.
You have to create your own TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler account - staff can't do it for you. Once your account exists, they may help with updates like correcting a name or address. But that initial setup? That's on you.
- Submit your email address - start account creation by entering a valid email.
- Open the message TDCJ sends you - you’ll receive an email with a 7-digit validation code and a link.
- Use the link and code to finish registration - follow the link from the email and use the 7-digit code when prompted so you can continue setting up your account.
Warning: Choose your email carefully. The system sends your 7-digit code to that address, and once your account is created, that email is permanent and can’t be changed later.
Background Profile
- ✓ Answer every question in the Background Questionnaire (you can’t move forward unless all questions are completed)
- ✓ Enter your phone number in this exact format: XXX XXX XXXX (use spaces, no dashes)
- ✓ Fill in all required profile fields so your account setup can be completed
The Background Questionnaire is a hard stop. Leave even one question blank and you won't be able to move forward. Double-check your answers - especially contact details - before submitting. A quick review now saves backtracking later.
Your account is permanently tied to the email you use at signup. Once created, that account can't be deleted, and the email can't be changed. Slow down at the start and pick an email you control and plan to keep.
Tip: Use a stable personal email address - not a temporary inbox or a shared account - because the email can’t be swapped later.
When you're ready to schedule, the system will ask you to pick a visit type - options include Regular, Contact, and Video/Tablet. Not every option appears for every situation. Availability depends on your relationship to the inmate, the facility's setup, and the inmate's current privileges. Regardless of visit type, scheduling happens through your Scheduler account, so getting it set up correctly is the first step.
- Look at what the system actually offers - the scheduler will only show visit types that are available for your situation.
- Match the visit type to privileges and availability - if Contact or Video/Tablet isn’t available, it may be because of unit setup, your relationship status, or the inmate’s visitation privileges.
- Select your preferred visit type when booking - choose from the list provided and continue through the scheduling screens.
