Before You Go: Green Haven's Visit Limits (per day, per week) and Who Can Visit
Planning a visit to Green Haven? Here are the limits that trip people up most often: how many visits are allowed, how many people can come at once, and how visiting days are assigned.
Each incarcerated person at Green Haven can receive one visit per day, with a maximum of two visits per week. Here's a detail that helps with planning: Green Haven's "visit week" runs Friday through Thursday. Keep that in mind if you're trying to fit in two visits without accidentally crossing the limit.
Note: If your loved one is in SHU custody, they’re allowed one non-legal (non-contact) visit within a seven-day period during normal visitation hours.
Green Haven allows up to three adult visitors per visit. If you're coordinating with family, decide on your three adults ahead of time - anyone beyond that will be turned away at the door.
One child aged five or under can also come along. The child must sit on an adult's lap and doesn't count toward the three-adult limit.
Visiting days are assigned by the first letter of the incarcerated person's last name. Check which day matches your loved one's last-name group before making the trip. One helpful exception: Wednesday visitation is open to everyone, regardless of last name.
