Green Haven Offers Wednesday Visits — How This Helps Families
Green Haven is one of the few DOCCS facilities offering in-person visits on Wednesdays—not just weekends. If your schedule makes weekends tough, or you'd rather skip the crowds, a midweek visit can be a real relief.
Green Haven Correctional Facility now offers in-person visitation on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. That's notable - most DOCCS facilities are still weekend-only. Having that midweek option sets Green Haven apart.

Wednesday visiting hours run 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Build your day around that window so you're not rushing - and leave time for check-in and any unexpected delays.
The latest arrival time is 1:30 PM. Show up after that, and you'll likely be turned away. Aim to be checked in well before the cutoff.
Heads up: Visit processing may pause around 10:30 AM for the facility count and resumes once the count clears.
Wednesday visits come with some real advantages. Midweek is often easier to work around jobs, school, and childcare - and you'll skip the weekend crowds. There's another perk specific to Green Haven: weekend visitation rotates by last name (A–L one weekend, M–Z the next). If your rotation isn't coming up soon, Wednesday lets you visit without waiting.
Even with the extra day, limits still apply. DOCCS may shorten visits during high-volume periods, so don't count on the full window. Green Haven also caps visits at one per day and two per week total. If you're choosing between Wednesday and a weekend, keep that weekly limit in mind.

Different rules apply for the Special Housing Unit (SHU). Green Haven allows one non-legal, non-contact visit within a seven-day period during normal visiting hours. Plan accordingly - that's a much narrower window.
