Video visiting gives you a face-to-face conversation without traveling to the facility. Your loved one connects from their tablet or a video kiosk inside. One catch: you'll need to be on their approved visitors list before you can schedule anything.
Note: A completed visitor application must be approved by facility staff before any visit can happen - video or in person.
You've got two options for video visits from home. The easiest is the Getting Out Visits app on your phone or tablet. Prefer a computer? That works too - just make sure you have a solid internet connection, a webcam, a microphone, and an up-to-date browser.
Video visits work two ways: on-demand (when slots are open) or scheduled for a specific date and time. Juggling work, school pickups, or time zones? Scheduling ahead takes the stress out of it.
Thinking about an in-person visit instead? That takes more coordination. Visits to offenders in NCDAC facilities are by appointment only - you'll need to call or email the prison to schedule. Even with an appointment locked in, call the day before to confirm the facility's visitation status. Schedules change.

Before you block off time for a video visit, double-check the basics. You need to be on the incarcerated person's approved visitors list. Your visitor application has to be approved by facility staff first, so if you just submitted it, you may need to wait before video visits become available.
