Growlersburg Conservation Camp

Growlersburg Conservation Camp is transitioning from ViaPath to Securus under CDCR's new statewide telecommunications contract. Until the switch is complete, incarcerated people will keep using ViaPath. Once the transition happens, they'll need to exchange their ViaPath tablet for a new Securus tablet. Any ViaPath-purchased content—photos, e-messages, and media—won't transfer over. CDCR's cost comparison shows lower rates with Securus: video calls drop to $0.10 per minute (from $0.16), and phone calls drop to $0.016 per minute (from $0.019). Free video time also increases from 15 minutes per two weeks to 30 minutes per month. Families can request refunds for unused ViaPath balances through the ViaPath call center. Incarcerated balances get refunded to trust accounts automatically.

Mail at Growlersburg Conservation Camp follows CDCR policy. Family members can't send quarterly packages directly—you'll need to purchase them through authorized private vendors with CDCR approval. Stick to vendors listed as approved for CDCR accounts. Keep in mind that CDCR isn't affiliated with these vendors and doesn't guarantee their performance or product quality. Any purchase is at your own risk. All incoming mail gets screened and inspected for contraband. Legal mail is handled separately so staff don't read legal correspondence during contraband checks. For standard letters, include the inmate's full booked name and required identifier, plus your printed return name and address. Avoid prohibited items like layered cards, glitter, or oversized/Polaroid photos.

Any funds you send to someone at Growlersburg Conservation Camp are subject to restitution and other authorized deductions. Want to avoid that for certain purchases? Buying items directly from approved third-party vendors (like care packages) isn't affected by restitution. For ViaPath tablet balances, families can request refunds through the ViaPath call center. Incarcerated balances get refunded to trust accounts automatically—follow ViaPath's posted instructions. When adding money, use whichever deposit method the facility's vendor accepts: online, phone, kiosk, or mail. Double-check the inmate's full name and booking/ID so funds post correctly. Don't mail cash. Trust account money typically covers commissary, phone time, and hygiene items.
