Setting Up PayTel Video Visits at Habersham County Jail: What Both of You Need to Do

Habersham County uses PayTel for all inmate communication - video visits, phone calls, and messaging. If you're already receiving calls through PayTel, you're set up in the right place for video visits too.

Video visits are available around the clock except during the nightly blackout from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. If your late-night or early-morning call won't connect, that time restriction is usually why.

Habersham County Jail requires visitors to be scheduled before a video visit. The jail's policy doesn't explain the exact scheduling process alongside the video-visit rules. 1. Confirm you’re scheduled to visit - Only scheduled visitors are allowed to video with an inmate, so make sure you’re on the list before you plan a time.
2. Pick a time outside the blackout hours - Video visits aren’t available between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., so plan your call for another time.
3. Both of you log into PayTel - The visit won’t happen unless both the visitor and the inmate are logged into PayTel at the same time.
4. Get your device ready before you connect - Charge your phone/tablet/computer, use a steady internet connection, and choose a quiet spot so you don’t waste your visit time troubleshooting.
5. If it won’t connect, troubleshoot based on the problem - Billing issues and trouble accepting calls are handled by PayTel; policy questions and inmate-related questions go to the Detention Center.
