What You Can (and Can't) Mail or Deliver to an Inmate at Hancock County Justice Center

Address letters and packages like this: Hancock County Justice Center, ATTN: (Name of Inmate), 200 West Crawford Street, Findlay, OH 45840. Adding "ATTN" with the inmate's full name helps ensure your mail gets routed to the right person.

Letters Overview

  • Mail letters in a plain envelope with a regular stamp.
  • Do not send cash or money orders.
  • Keep the contents limited to a letter and religious materials only.

Stick to letters and religious materials only. Anything else you include won't be delivered with the letter - staff will remove it and add it to the inmate's property instead.

Heads up: Greeting cards get photocopied. The inmate receives the copy, and the original goes into their property.

Packages follow different rules than regular mail. The inmate must submit a request first, and only items from the facility's approved list can be included. No prior approval? The package gets refused and sent back to you.

Approved Items List

  • 1 Bible
  • 5 pairs WHITE panties
  • 5 pairs WHITE socks
  • 5 WHITE bras (no underwires)

  • 1 Bible
  • 5 pairs WHITE briefs
  • 5 pairs WHITE socks
  • 5 WHITE T-shirts
  • 1 set of white thermal underwear (top and bottom)

Want to send something that's not on the approved list? It has to be purchased through the facility commissary. That's the only option for anything besides a Bible and the specific white clothing items mentioned above.

  1. Plan for Monday evening drop-off - Approved items are accepted Mondays from 6:00–7:00 pm.
  2. Use the Thursday evening window if needed - Approved items are accepted Thursdays from 6:00–7:00 pm.
  3. Or go Saturday morning - Approved items are accepted Saturdays from 8:00–9:00 am.

Mail with prohibited items doesn't get rejected outright - staff just removes the extras and puts them in the inmate's property. Packages are a different story. Without prior approval (and contents from the approved list), the entire package gets refused and returned to sender.
