How to Pick Up an Inmate's Personal Property at Harrison County Adult Detention Center
Before you make the trip, confirm you're the person the inmate designated to receive their property. Bring a current photo ID - the front desk won't release anything without it. Once the property is ready, staff will reach out to let you know it's available.
Property pick-up is available any day, including weekends, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Give yourself a little buffer - check-in can take a few minutes.
Property won’t be released until the inmate submits a completed Property Release request form on the jail kiosk. If you’re not sure whether the request has been submitted yet, it’s worth confirming with the front desk before you head over - this step is what triggers the release process.
Transfers complicate things. If the inmate is moving to MDOC or another agency and some items aren't accepted by the receiving facility, Harrison County Adult Detention Center holds those items for thirty (30) days. After that, anything left behind gets destroyed - no exceptions. Arrange pickup as soon as you learn a transfer is happening.
Once the Property Release is processed, staff will contact the designated person to let them know items are ready. When you arrive, have your current photo ID ready - they'll verify your identity before handing anything over.
Note: The inmate must submit a completed Property Release request form on the kiosk before property can be released for pickup. If you’re unsure it’s been submitted, check with the front desk first.
