Weekend-only visits: Halawa Correctional Facility (HCF) holds inmate visitation on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Visiting Someone at Halawa Correctional Facility (HCF): Weekend-Only Schedule Explained

HCF splits each visit day into two blocks with a lunch break in between. The first half runs 7:00–10:00 a.m., lunch break is 10:00–11:00 a.m., and the second half runs 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. If you're traveling any distance, plan around these windows - showing up during lunch break means waiting.

  • First Half (0700–1000): if you try to check in after 9:00 a.m., you’ll be denied entry.
  • Second Half (1100–1400): if you try to check in after 1:00 p.m., you’ll be denied entry.

Each visit lasts 30 minutes. That goes fast once you factor in driving, parking, and check-in. Give yourself extra time so you're not rushing to make a specific session.

The visit room has limited capacity. HMSF caps occupancy at 12 inmates at a time, so even on weekends, space constraints affect how visits are scheduled and processed.

HCF also limits who can visit at once: one adult and one child per inmate, maximum. If multiple family members want to see someone, coordinate beforehand so no one gets turned away at the door.

Sanitization: After each group, the visit stalls (inmate/visitor) are sanitized.

The facility enforces check-in cutoffs strictly - no exceptions for late arrivals. For the first half, you must check in by 9:00 a.m. For the second half, the deadline is 1:00 p.m. Arrive early to give yourself time to get through processing.

Before making weekend plans, confirm you're on the inmate's approved visitor list. HCF requires all visitors to be pre-approved - if you haven't visited before or your status may have changed, verify ahead of time.
