How to Schedule and Prepare for a Haywood County Detention Center Visit

Visits are by appointment only. Before an inmate can receive a visit, the inmate must be classified and assigned to a housing unit.

Schedule the appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Visits are conducted on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

  1. Schedule online through InmateSales or use a kiosk in Visitation A in the facility lobby.
  2. Provide the visitor’s name, address, date of birth and driver’s-license information when arranging the visit.

Visitors age 16 or older must present proper identification. Accepted identification is a valid state or federal ID card or driver’s license bearing the holder’s photograph. A child age 15 or younger does not need identification when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • ✓ The visiting party is limited to one adult and one child
  • ✓ Any child visiting is accompanied by an adult
  • ✓ Children remain attended at all times

The facility strictly enforces its visitor dress rules. Shirts and shoes are mandatory, and staff may reject other clothing they consider inconsistent with modest and acceptable dress.

  • ✓ Tube tops, halter tops or tank tops
  • ✓ Spaghetti-strap tops or clothing that leaves the midriff bare
  • ✓ Clothing displaying gang affiliation
  • ✓ Pants or shirts made with see-through fabric
  • ✓ Shorts above mid-thigh for visitors age 14 or older
  • ✓ Dresses or skirts above mid-thigh
  • ✓ Miniskirts
  • ✓ Wave caps, do-rags or bandanas
  • ✓ Generally revealing clothing
  • ✓ Spandex clothing
  • ✓ Tights worn without shorts

The following belongings are not allowed during visitation. You also may not leave items unattended in the lobby.
