How to Visit Facility

Check two places before you head out: the facility's webpage and a quick phone call. The webpage lists typical visiting hours, but it also notes that those hours may not cover every situation. You'll find the specific rules and procedures in the facility's Visiting Regulations. Call 603-342-4000 to confirm the schedule before you leave, especially if you're traveling any distance.

Note: The Warden can restrict or cancel visits for safety and security reasons, including severe weather or incidents that affect normal operations. If your loved one is in special housing, their visiting schedule is usually modified. While there's a legal minimum of four hours of visiting time per month, the Warden can still limit visit length or how many people can visit at once to prevent overcrowding or address safety concerns.

How to Visit Facility

Steps to Follow

  • Check the facility’s webpage for typical visiting hours and the Visiting Regulations
  • Call 603-342-4000 to confirm the current schedule before you leave
  • Make sure you are on the inmate’s approved visiting list and cleared by the BOP before you try to visit

Even when you do everything right, day-to-day operations can affect your visit. The Warden can restrict or cancel visits for safety and security, including severe weather or incidents that disrupt normal operations. Schedules are often different for inmates in special housing, so the "typical" hours posted online may not apply. And while the law guarantees at least four hours of visiting time per month, the facility can still limit visit length or the number of visitors at one time to manage overcrowding.

  1. Review the facility’s posted visiting information: Use the facility’s webpage to find the typical visiting hours and the Visiting Regulations so you know the current procedures.
  2. Confirm the schedule by phone before you depart: Call 603-342-4000 on the day you plan to go and verify that visiting is running as scheduled.
  • Confirm you are on the inmate’s approved visiting list and cleared by the BOP
  • Ask whether the inmate is housed in a special housing unit with a modified visiting schedule
  • Ask if any temporary restrictions or cancellations are in effect due to safety, security, or weather
  • Clarify what visit length and how many visitors are being allowed right now, since limits can be set to avoid overcrowding
