Three Ways to Put Money on an Inmate’s Canteen Account at Hill‑Finklea Detention Center

Hill‑Finklea Detention Center supports three ways to add money to an inmate’s canteen account: sending a money order by mail, using the lobby kiosk, or making an internet deposit through a third party.

Mail a money order made out to the inmate in any amount, and the facility will deposit it into their canteen account. If you're unsure how to format or address the envelope, call the detention center first to make sure the funds get credited correctly.

Prefer to deposit in person? There's a kiosk in the front main lobby at the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office where you can add money to an inmate's canteen account.

The kiosk is a good choice when timing matters. Once your transaction goes through, the inmate has immediate access to the funds.

1. Go during kiosk hours: Monday through Sunday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
2. Use the evening window if that’s easier: Monday through Sunday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
3. If you’re already coming to see someone, check visitation hours: The kiosk is also available during the hours of inmate visitation only.

You can also deposit money online through McDaniel Supply Company, a third-party vendor. The detention center doesn't control or monitor that service, so if something goes wrong with an online deposit, you'll need to contact the vendor directly.
