Bring a photo ID. Holmes County Jail requires every visitor to present one, and staff check it on arrival. Don't leave home without it.

Tip: Arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled visitation end time. Show up later than that and you could lose visit time or not get your full visit at all.

Prohibited

  • Cell phones
  • Cameras
  • Electronic devices
  • Purses
  • Bags (and similar carry-ins)

Note: Visitation can be suspended or canceled due to emergencies. Plan ahead so you're not stuck carrying prohibited items if things change on short notice.

What you wear and how you act can determine whether you get in. Holmes County Jail can turn visitors away for inappropriate dress, so aim for conservative, low-key clothing. Avoid anything that could be seen as too revealing or disruptive. Behavior matters just as much. Arguing, cursing, or ignoring staff instructions can all get you turned away. And if you've been drinking or using drugs, don't go. The jail will deny your visit if staff believe you're under the influence.

Warning: Staff can turn you away for unacceptable language, disruptive behavior, or if they believe you're under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

If you have kids, plan carefully. Anyone under 18 is not permitted to visit at Holmes County Jail. Children can wait in the lobby, but they must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. They cannot go into the visitation area.

Tip: Bringing children? Bring another adult along so one of you can stay in the lobby to supervise while the other visits.
