How to Create and Use a TDCJ Visitation Scheduler Account (Hutchins Unit)

You have to create your own visitor account to use the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler for the Hutchins Unit - staff can't do this for you. Once your account exists, staff may help update certain details like your name or address. But the initial setup? That's on you.

  1. Start the “Create an Account” process - Enter the email address you want tied to your scheduler account.
  2. Watch for the registration email - After you submit your email, TDCJ sends a message that includes a 7-digit validation code and a link.
  3. Use the code and link to finish registration - Open that email, follow the link, and enter the 7-digit validation code to complete your account setup.

Warning: Choose your email carefully. Once an account is created for an email address, the account can’t be deleted and the email address can’t be changed.

When filling out your visitor profile, pay attention to the phone number format. Enter it exactly as XXX XXX XXXX - spaces between number groups, no dashes. Typing 123-456-7890 can cause problems because the scheduler expects the spaced format.

To add an inmate, you'll search using their TDCJ number or SID number. Here's the key: the number must be exactly eight digits. Double-check you have the full 8-digit number before starting your search.

  • Find the inmate’s TDCJ number or SID number.
  • Make sure it’s exactly 8 digits long.
  • Enter the 8 digits exactly as shown when you search/add them.

Once you add an inmate and submit a Relationship Request, that request goes to the inmate's assigned unit for verification. For Hutchins inmates, staff at the Hutchins Unit will verify your relationship with the inmate. This is exactly why you need your own scheduler account - your visit setup starts with you, and the unit handles verification after you submit.

Common Problems Fixes

  • Pick the right email the first time - once an account is created for an email address, the account can’t be deleted and the email address can’t be changed.
  • If you’re waiting on the registration message, look for the email that includes a 7-digit validation code and a link to complete registration.
  • Fix phone-number errors by re-entering it as XXX XXX XXXX with spaces (no dashes).

Note: If your Relationship Request is stuck, it's waiting on verification by TDCJ staff at the inmate's assigned unit (Hutchins Unit for Hutchins inmates).
