Dress Code for Video Visits at Jackson County ADC: What Will Get You Turned Away
Jackson County ADC requires visitors to wear a shirt for visitation. If you show up (or log on) without one, you can be denied the visit.
Shoes are required. No exceptions - make sure you're fully dressed head-to-toe.
If you’re wearing shorts, a dress, or a skirt, make sure it’s knee length. Anything shorter can get your visit refused.
No hats, caps, or visors during the visit.
Note: The same dress code applies whether you’re visiting on-site or doing a from-home video visit.
Jackson County ADC prohibits the improper display of private body areas. Clothing that's too revealing can get your visit ended on the spot.
- ✓ Bare midriffs
- ✓ Exposed cleavage
- ✓ See-through clothing
- ✓ Sleeveless tops, strapless tops, or tank tops
Tip: Bare midriffs, exposed cleavage, or anything showing private areas will get you denied or disconnected. When in doubt, dress more conservatively - it's not worth losing your visit.
- Try on your full outfit before the visit - don’t wait until you’re about to check in or turn your camera on.
- Confirm you have a shirt and shoes on - both are required.
- Check the length if you’re wearing shorts, a skirt, or a dress - it needs to be knee length.
- Remove any headwear - no caps, hats, or visors.
- Swap out sleeveless, strapless, or tank styles - those tops aren’t permitted.
- ✓ If you were planning a sleeveless top, switch to a regular shirt so you don’t get denied.
- ✓ If kids will be on camera with you for a from-home video visit, dress them to the same standard (no sleeveless/strapless/tank styles).
Staff monitor all visits. Break a dress code rule and you'll be disconnected immediately - no refund for lost time.
Got turned away? Fix the issue and try again. Stick with the basics: a shirt, shoes, and knee-length bottoms if you're wearing shorts, a skirt, or a dress.
