JCCC Visiting Hours and When You Can Actually Get In

JCCC is open for in-person visiting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each visiting day is split into two sessions: 9:30am–1:30pm and 2:30pm–6:30pm. If you’re planning your drive and want the best chance of being seen, pick the session you can reliably arrive for on time - because the schedule is firm, but entry depends on capacity and the line.

Don't show up hours early hoping to wait it out. Visitors may arrive in the parking lot no earlier than 30 minutes before visiting starts. This keeps the grounds clear until staff are ready to process people. If you're coming from out of town, plan your trip with that timing in mind.

Note: No person or pet may remain in a vehicle on institutional grounds while visiting. If you need someone to stay with a child or an animal, arrange that off-site before you arrive.

Even on the right day during the right session, entry is first-come, first-served. The order you arrive matters, and busy days mean long lines. Since you can't get there earlier than 30 minutes before the session, aim to arrive as close to that mark as possible. Show up late, and you risk ending up behind a line that's already filled the available spots.

Group size is capped: three visitors per offender, plus up to three additional children age 5 and under. Traveling with a larger family? Decide ahead of time who's going in so you're not sorting it out in the parking lot.

If You Cant Get in

  • Confirm the person you’re visiting is still at JCCC and eligible to receive visitors before you travel.
  • Double-check that you’re going on a visiting day (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) and that you’re targeting the correct session (9:30am–1:30pm or 2:30pm–6:30pm).
  • If you arrive and the line/capacity keeps you from getting in, plan to try the next session the same day or come back on the next visiting day.
  • If you need facility directions or the most current official details, use the Missouri DOC’s official resources before you make a second trip.
