Posting Bail at Jefferson County Jail: Fees, Payment Methods, and Release Timeline

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office charges a $10 filing fee for each bond. This fee is cash only - bring cash if you're paying in person.

A separate $30 booking fee also applies. Factor this into your total when budgeting - it's on top of the bond amount and any payment processing charges.

Prefer to pay by card in person? Use the TouchPay kiosk in the jail lobby. It accepts credit cards and lets you skip the phone or online process.

Can't make it to the jail? Call TouchPay's toll-free line at 1-866-232-1899 to pay by credit card over the phone.

For online payments, go through TouchPayDirect. You'll need the Site ID for Jefferson County Sheriff's Office: 280401.

Note: TouchPay payments usually become available right away, but some banks take longer. Depending on your bank, funds can take up to 24 hours to post.

  • TouchPay services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and fees apply.
  • On your credit card or checking statement, the charge will show as “INMATE PAYMENT”.

Once bond is set and ready to post, Colorado law sets a six-hour release expectation. The sheriff must release a defendant within six hours after a personal recognizance bond is set and the defendant returns to jail, or within six hours after a cash bond is set and the defendant or surety notifies the jail that bond is ready - unless extraordinary circumstances exist.
