Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled visit. That buffer gives you time to complete check-in without rushing - especially if there's a line.

Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. Staff check it at the desk, and expired IDs won't be accepted. Double-check that expiration date before you leave home.

You'll go through a metal detector - every visitor does. Keep that in mind when deciding what to wear and bring so you don't get held up.

  • Put your personal property into the lockers provided during check-in.
  • Keep anything you don’t need for the visit secured in a locker - don’t plan on carrying personal items in with you.
  • Before you leave the detention center, retrieve everything you stored so you don’t accidentally walk out without it.

You must be at least 18 to visit on your own. Anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and stay with them throughout the process.

Only one adult visitor is allowed per inmate, per visitation time. If more than one adult shows up, staff will enforce the limit at check-in.

Bringing a young child? There's one exception: kids under six count as "lap children" and don't count toward the visitor limit. That means one adult can visit while supervising a small child.

Prohibited Behavior Items

  • No food in the visitation area
  • No drinks in the visitation area
  • No smoking in the visitation area

Heads up: Your visit can be denied, suspended, or cut short for several reasons - being under the influence, missing proper ID, refusing screening, disruptive behavior, improper attire, indecent exposure, damaging county property, lack of space, or any safety concern.

Zero-tolerance warning: Trafficking contraband into the detention facility is a Level 6 non-person felony.

Don't plan on handing anything to the inmate during your visit. No items may be given to inmates unless a Shift Sergeant has authorized it in writing beforehand.
