Johnson County enforces a strict dress code, and staff won't hesitate to turn visitors away for clothing violations. Check the list below before you go.
You'll need to stay properly dressed for the entire visit - staff do turn people away for dress code violations. The rules are straightforward: nothing that looks like staff attire, and nothing transparent, provocative, or revealing. That means no low-cut tops, halter tops, crop tops, or tube tops.

- ✓ No footwear - shoes, sandals, boots, or other footwear must be worn at all times
Note: Footwear is required the whole time. Plan on keeping shoes, sandals, boots, or other footwear on from check-in through the end of your visit.
Even if you arrive on time and follow the dress code, your visit can still be denied, suspended, or terminated for safety or policy violations. Showing up under the influence of drugs or alcohol? That's an automatic no. Same goes for refusing a required screening or search, disruptive behavior, or intentionally damaging county property.

Johnson County Sheriff's Office has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual abuse, harassment, and misconduct. Any violation ends the visit immediately and can result in suspended visitation privileges. Depending on the circumstances, criminal charges may follow.
Take screening seriously. Refusing a required screening or search means your visit gets denied, suspended, or terminated on the spot. Attempting to bring contraband into the facility can result in felony charges.

Space is limited. Even if you follow every rule, your visit can be denied if there's no room. Each inmate is allowed one adult visitor per visitation time. Children under six count as lap children and don't take up a visitor slot.
