How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account at Johnson County Jail (kiosk & JailATM)
When someone is booked into the Johnson County Adult Detention Center, the facility creates an inmate account for them. Johnson County partners with Summit for commissary and banking services - this is where deposits go and how your loved one accesses funds while in custody.
Want to deposit money in person? Head to the kiosk in the lobby. It's available 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily - no need to squeeze your visit into typical business hours.
- ✓ Cash deposits
- ✓ Credit card deposits
- ✓ Debit card deposits
- ✓ Deposit fees may apply
- Get the inmate’s six-digit Criminal File Number - you’ll need it to make a kiosk deposit.
- Ask in the lobby if you don’t have it - a staff member in the lobby can provide the Criminal File Number.
- Complete the deposit at the kiosk - follow the on-screen instructions to finish your transaction.
Note: Lobby staff will not accept cash, checks, or money orders to deposit into an inmate’s account - use the kiosk instead.
Can't make it to the lobby? Deposit online through jailatm.com instead. The site is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - make a deposit whenever it's convenient for you.
Need help with an online deposit? JailATM customer service can be reached at (866) 335-2734 (Option 1).
Expect transaction fees when depositing online. Check the total before you hit submit.
Don't bother trying to hand money to someone at the desk. Johnson County Jail lobby staff won't accept cash, checks, or money orders for inmate deposits. You'll need to use either the lobby kiosk or the online option.
Fees apply whether you use the kiosk or deposit online. The amount varies, so check the fee details during checkout before finalizing your deposit.
Tips
- ✓ Have the inmate’s six-digit Criminal File Number ready before you start
- ✓ If you deposit at the kiosk, keep your receipt
- ✓ If you deposit online, save your confirmation/receipt
The most common snag? Not having the right identifier. If you don't know the inmate's six-digit Criminal File Number, ask a lobby staff member before you approach the kiosk. And remember - even with cash in hand, staff won't take it. Use the kiosk or go online.
Tip: If an online deposit isn’t going through, call JailATM customer service at (866) 335-2734 (Option 1). Online deposits through jailatm.com are available 24/7, so you can try again once the issue is resolved.
