How to Schedule Your First Video Visit at Kankakee County Jail

All visitation at Kankakee County Jail happens by video monitor, and every visit requires an appointment. You can't walk in and expect to be seen. Schedule ahead, or you might miss your chance to connect that week.

To schedule a visit or get visitation information, call the jail’s visitation line at 815-802-7272. If you’re unsure what you’re allowed to bring, whether you’re on the right schedule, or what to do if plans change, this is the number to use.

Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance - no exceptions. Wait until the last minute, and you could end up pushing your visit to another day or missing that week entirely. Call as soon as you know when you're available.

Whoever scheduled the visit needs to be the one who shows up early. The jail requires the scheduler to arrive at least 15 minutes before the appointment, and no one gets in until that person checks in. Don't assume a family member can handle it for you.

Bring a valid picture ID - you'll need to show it at check-in. No exceptions. Double-check you have it before leaving home.

2. Cancel before your appointment start time - if you don’t call before it starts, it’s a “no call, no show.”
3. Protect that week’s visit - a no-call, no-show counts as the visit for the week, even if you didn’t get to see them.
