Understanding Kankakee County Jail's Visitation List: Who Can Visit and How Many at Once

Visits at Kankakee County Jail can't be scheduled until the inmate fills out their visitation list. You can't add yourself, and staff won't schedule a visit just because you show up ready. Not sure if you're on the list? Check with your loved one first and make sure they've submitted it before you try to book anything.

Note: Every visitor is subject to search upon arrival, with no exceptions.

The visitation list itself can include up to 10 people. Think of this as the pool of approved visitors the inmate can choose from over time, not the number of people who can walk in together.

Even with 10 names on the list, only three people can visit during a single in-person appointment - and that includes children. Planning to bring kids? Count them toward the three before you head out.

At-home video visits work differently. Kankakee County Jail allows unlimited at-home visits, which helps when coordinating rides, work schedules, or childcare gets complicated.

One catch: whoever schedules the at-home visit still needs to be on the inmate's visitation list. If your booking won't go through, check list approval first.

Show up with more than three people for an in-person visit? The visit gets suspended. If you're arriving as a larger group, decide beforehand which three will actually go back.

  • Make sure the inmate has added you to their visitation list before you try to schedule a visit.
  • Count your group before you go back: only 3 people total are allowed per in-person appointment (children included).
  • If more than 3 people attempt to go back, the visit will be suspended.
  • Be ready for a search upon arrival (no exceptions).
