Kentucky's Legal Mail Portal: Step-by-Step Registration Guide for Attorneys (applies to KSP)
Sending legal mail through Kentucky DOC's Legal Mail Portal (used for KSP) starts with a quick registration process. Here's what you'll need: the exact URL, password requirements, licensure documentation, and phone verification—plus what happens after you submit.
Head to the Legal Mail Portal registration page at https://lmp.vendengine.com/visitor_login.php?jail_id=2516. Click "Create Account" to get started.
Your password must be at least 8 characters long and include at least one lowercase letter and one number.
You'll need to upload proof of licensure in good standing from any jurisdiction. The portal accepts either an image or PDF from your Bar Association.
Phone verification is required. You can receive your code by text message or phone call - your choice.
Once you submit, the Department of Corrections reviews your application. You'll get an email either way. Rejected? The email explains why, and you can fix the issue and resubmit. Approved? You'll be notified by email.
After approval, your status changes to verified and you're assigned a Mail ID Number. This number will start with a letter.
Note: The portal warns that some individuals have attempted to smuggle drugs into facilities by soaking paper in chemicals and mailing it.
- ✓ Do not hand your envelope to a third party (such as the client’s family) to mail.
- ✓ Make sure any envelope you send is sealed by you or trusted staff before it’s mailed.
Questions or technical issues? Email doc.legalmailportal@ky.gov. The Department's legal mail page also has a direct link to register.
