KSP Visiting Schedule Decoder: Which Housing Units Have Visits on Which Days
KSP runs visits on a monthly rotation by housing unit, so the right day depends entirely on where your loved one is housed. Find out the unit, match it to the correct Tuesday/Wednesday window, and you'll avoid a wasted trip.
At Kentucky State Penitentiary (KSP), you can't just pick a time and show up. The facility assigns your visitation slot based on availability and approval. The monthly calendar is your starting point for planning, but your actual time depends on what KSP can accommodate once the visit request goes through.
Here's the rotation KSP uses for in-person visits by housing unit. Use it to figure out which week - and which days - to aim for when coordinating a visit.
- ✓ 5CH (in-person): First Tuesday and Wednesday of each month, 9:00am–10:00am
- ✓ 4CH (in-person): Second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month, 9:00am–10:00am
- ✓ SSU (in-person): Fourth Tuesday and Wednesday of each month, 9:00am–10:00am
Note: Even if you’re aiming for the right unit’s window, KSP assigns the visitation time based on availability and approval.
Video visits run on a different schedule than in-person visits. For Death Row, the published window is Sundays and Tuesdays from 10:30am to 11:30am.

- Email KSP to start the scheduling process - To schedule an appointment to visit, you must email KSP.Visits@ky.gov.
- Confirm the request is being made at least 7 days ahead - All visits must be requested by the inmate via email at least seven days before the visit, so coordinate with your loved one early enough to match the correct housing-unit window.
Some housing units have narrow in-person windows - 5CH visits on the first Tuesday/Wednesday (9:00am–10:00am), 4CH on the second Tuesday/Wednesday (9:00am–10:00am), and SSU on the fourth Tuesday/Wednesday (9:00am–10:00am). That's why timing matters. All visits must be requested by the inmate via email at least seven days before the visit. If you're traveling any distance, build your plan around that lead time so you're not scrambling at the last minute.
