How to Register for Visitation Online at Kirkland Correctional (for SC Driver’s License Holders)

Starting June 1, 2025, adults 18 and older with a valid South Carolina driver's license can register online. It's the fastest way to get into the system - no mailed paperwork, and you can schedule and manage visits yourself.

You'll need the paper application if you don't have an ID or driver's license, have an out-of-state license, or can't access a computer (or run into technical issues that block you from finishing online). All minor children must also go through the paper process, along with documentation proving the relationship.

SCDC uses GTL's visitation scheduler at scdoc.gtlvisitme.com. That's where you'll create an account, sign in, and schedule or manage visits.

How to Register for Visitation Online at Kirkland Correctional (for SC Driver’s License Holders)
  1. Confirm you qualify for online registration - You must be 18 or older and have a valid South Carolina driver’s license to use the online registration option.
  2. Have your SC driver’s license ready - The online process is built around verifying eligible adults with a valid S.C. driver’s license.
  3. Go to the GTL scheduling portal - Use scdoc.gtlvisitme.com to start.
  4. Create an account or sign in - Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to schedule and manage visits.
  5. Add the person you want to visit - Enter the incarcerated person’s information as prompted (having their name and SCDC number ready helps you avoid delays).
  6. Schedule or manage your visit time - The portal is where you reserve a visitation time and manage upcoming visits.

Tip: Enter your info exactly as it appears on your SC driver's license. Double-check the incarcerated person's name and SCDC number before submitting. If something goes wrong on the portal, stop and get help - don't guess your way through.

After you submit, some relationships may still need verification. If your situation can't be handled online - minors, out-of-state licenses, no ID - you'll need the paper application. When you show up for a visit, staff will ask for the incarcerated person's name and SCDC number. They enter it into an automated system, and if you're on the approved list, you'll get a visitor pass.

  • Know the incarcerated person’s name
  • Have the incarcerated person’s SCDC number
  • Bring your government-issued photo ID

Can't complete online registration? The paper application is your backup. You'll need it if you don't have an ID or driver's license, have an out-of-state license, lack computer access, or hit technical problems you can't resolve. All minor children require paper applications too, plus documentation verifying the relationship.
