Scheduling Your Visit to Kirkland: The 15-Hour Rule and How to Use the GTL Scheduler

You can't just show up at Kirkland and hope for an opening. All visits must be scheduled through the GTL scheduler at least 15 hours in advance. That 15-hour rule is everything - if you want a morning visit, you'll need to book the day before, not the night before.

Scheduling Your Visit to Kirkland: The 15-Hour Rule and How to Use the GTL Scheduler

Head to scdoc.gtlvisitme.com to schedule and manage your visit. Create an account, sign in, then book, change, or cancel visits from there.

  1. Go to the GTL scheduling portal - Use scdoc.gtlvisitme.com to start the process.
  2. Register or sign in - Create your account if you’re new, or log in if you already have one.
  3. Choose to schedule or manage a visit - Use the scheduling options to book a new time, or the management area to view/edit what you already reserved.
  4. Pick your date and time - Select the option that works for you from what’s available.
  5. Confirm the visit - Finish the booking so the system records your reservation.

Reminder: Book your visit at least 15 hours ahead through the GTL portal. The system confirms instantly once you complete scheduling.

Weekend visiting runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the day is broken into 2-hour time blocks. When you schedule, you’re reserving one of those blocks, so make sure the start time you choose matches when you can actually be there.

Tip: Want an early Saturday block? Schedule it Friday with time to spare - the 15-hour rule catches a lot of people off guard.

Can't make your scheduled visit? Cancel at least 48 hours ahead. Skip that step - or cancel late - and the missed visit still counts toward the inmate's monthly total. That means fewer visits available for the rest of the month.

  • Cancel through your account on scdoc.gtlvisitme.com at least 48 hours before the visit.
  • Make sure the portal shows the visit as canceled (save any confirmation you receive).
  • If you still want to visit, rebook a new time in the scheduler far enough ahead to meet the 15-hour rule.

S5

  • Schedule as early as you can, and always at least 15 hours ahead, so you don’t get blocked by the cutoff.
  • Keep your loved one’s full name and SCDC number in front of you while you’re booking in scdoc.gtlvisitme.com.
  • After you schedule, double-check your account to make sure the visit shows up as reserved (that’s your best sign it’s confirmed).

At check-in: Know the inmate's full name and SCDC number. Staff enter it into the automated system to verify you're on the approved list and print your visitor pass.
