General Population vs Special Management: Understanding Visit Limits at Lake Erie Correctional
Visit limits at Lake Erie Correctional depend on where your loved one is housed. Here's how often they can receive visits, how many people can come at once, and what to double-check before you make the trip.
If your loved one is in general population at Lake Erie Correctional, they can have up to eight visits per month. Each visit allows up to five visitors at a time - helpful if you're coordinating around work schedules or want to bring multiple family members without splitting into separate trips.
Special management housing has tighter limits. Visits are restricted to one per month, Saturdays only, with a maximum of two visitors. If multiple family members want to see your loved one, you'll need to decide who attends that month's visit.
Note: Lake Erie's published visiting hours don't match across all ODRC pages. One page lists Thursday–Sunday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., while the statewide schedule lists Thursday–Sunday sessions (8:00–10:30 a.m., noon–2:30 p.m., and 3:00–5:30 p.m.) by housing assignment. Verify your session time before you travel.
Beyond the per-visit cap, there's also a limit on who can be approved to visit at all. Under ODRC policy, an incarcerated person's visiting list can include up to 15 approved adult visitors - but no more than two can be friends. Most slots end up reserved for family.
Good to know: Minor children do not count toward the 15 approved adult visitors on the visiting list.
Visits at Lake Erie Correctional are scheduled online through the ODRC/GTL scheduling site (ohdoc.gtlvisitme.com). If you're working around a job, school, or a long drive, booking ahead is the safest way to avoid showing up without a slot.
The statewide ODRC schedule lists Lake Erie's in-person visiting Thursday through Sunday, with sessions at 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., noon to 2:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Session times are tied to housing assignment - and since visiting hours are published in more than one format, confirm which session applies before you commit to travel plans.

Even with statewide policy in place, Lake Erie can adjust visiting rules locally - things like how visits are prioritized, visitor limits, and scheduling. Major changes should be publicized 30 days in advance, but day-to-day details can still vary. The statewide listing also shows video visiting available daily from noon to 3:00 p.m. If you've heard the in-person schedule is running differently, email LakeErieVisitation@corecivic.com to confirm what's currently in effect.
