How to Send Money to Someone at Larned: Trust Account vs. Tablet Account
Tried to send money and hit a dead end? You're not alone. At Larned, trust account money and tablet account money go through different companies—use the wrong one, and your deposit won't go through.
At Larned, money can go to two separate accounts - and the difference matters. If you're trying to add funds to a resident's KDOC trust account, ViaPath won't work. You'll need to use Access Corrections instead.
Tablet money works differently. To fund a resident's tablet account for messaging and media, you'll set up a ViaPath (GettingOut) account. The minimum deposit is $10.00. Once the funds are loaded, they can be used for messages, photos, and 30‑second video messages.
The KDOC trust account is the "main" account - money meant to go through the facility's trust system. Since ViaPath doesn't handle trust deposits, families use Access Corrections for this. Access Corrections also lets you handle other payments online: court-ordered financial obligations, bail, and parole or probation payments when applicable.
A ViaPath tablet account covers tablet-based services. Here's how costs break down: messages are $0.25 each, electronic photos are $0.25 per photo, and 30‑second video attachments cost $1.75 per video. Printing has separate charges - $0.35 per page for print emails, $1.00 per page for printed attachments or photos. Entertainment content runs $0.04/minute for standard and $0.06/minute for premium.
- Create a ViaPath (GettingOut) account - this is the account you’ll use to fund the resident’s tablet services.
- Add funds (at least $10.00) - the $10.00 minimum deposit is required to enable messaging and media like photos and 30‑second video messages.
- Know the fee policy - ViaPath does not charge a fee to add funds to the tablet account.
Need to add money to a resident's KDOC trust account? Skip ViaPath - it won't work for trust deposits. Go directly to Access Corrections. You can also use Access Corrections for related payments: court-ordered financial obligations, bail, and parole or probation payments.
