Sending Messages and Photos to Someone at Larned: GettingOut (ViaPath) Setup and Costs

To message someone at Larned through their tablet, you'll create and fund a ViaPath Technologies (GettingOut) account. Good news: the same account works whether you use the website or the app. Pick whichever is easier and you're set.

  • Create your account on the GettingOut website for Kansas DOC
  • Download and use the GettingOut mobile app (Android or iOS)

ViaPath requires a $10.00 minimum deposit before you can send anything. Once that's in your account, you can start sending electronic messages, photos, or 30-second videos. Each item you send gets deducted from your balance.

Pricing is straightforward: electronic messages cost $0.25 each, and photos are $0.25 each. Want to send a short video? A 30-second video attachment runs $1.75.

Your loved one sees charges on their end too. They pay $0.25 per electronic message, $0.35 per printed page for emails, and $1.00 per printed page for attachments or photos. Entertainment content bills by the minute - $0.04/minute for standard and $0.06/minute for premium - so their balance can drop quickly if they use entertainment regularly.

ViaPath doesn't charge a fee to add funds through GettingOut. Whatever you deposit goes directly toward your ViaPath balance for tablet services.

Practical Tips

  • Keep at least the $10.00 minimum deposit available so you don’t get stuck unable to send a message, photo, or 30-second video
  • Watch for resident-side deductions (messages, printing, and entertainment minutes) so the ViaPath balance doesn’t get drained unexpectedly

Note: You can't deposit to a resident's trust account through ViaPath. Trust-account deposits go through Access Corrections instead.
