Two Ways to Pay for Phone Calls at Lawrence Correctional Center: Friends & Family vs. Commissary Minutes
Want to cover phone calls for someone at Lawrence Correctional Center? IDOC gives you two options: set up an ICSolutions Friends & Family prepaid account to pay for calls yourself, or add money to the incarcerated person's trust account so they can buy phone minutes through commissary.
Both options use the same phone system - ICSolutions is the sole telephone provider for all Illinois Department of Corrections facilities. The difference comes down to who holds the balance. With Friends & Family, you create and fund an account in your name to pay for incoming calls. With commissary minutes, you put money in their trust account and they purchase phone time themselves.
Heads up: IDOC began switching phone services from Securus to ICSolutions starting February 3, 2025, rolling out facility by facility. Expect a one- to two-day phone interruption during the switch. In-custody phone credits and approved phone lists (PAN) transfer to ICSolutions automatically. Friends & Family money in Securus Advance Connect accounts does not transfer - contact Securus at 1-800-844-6591 for refund info after the transition. IDOC recommends keeping enough Securus funds to cover one to two weeks of calls until the switch is complete.
For the Friends & Family option, create and fund an ICSolutions prepaid account through the ICSolutions IDOC page. Once your account has money in it, calls from your loved one at Lawrence Correctional Center will draw from that balance.
