What You Can't Bring Into the Visiting Room at Lawrence Correctional Center (and Where to Put It)
Want a smooth check-in at Lawrence Correctional Center? Plan to arrive with as little as possible. The Visiting Room has a strict list of prohibited items, but small lockers in the Visiting Center give you a place to stash your personal belongings.
Top Items
- ✓ Electronic devices (cell phones, tablets, smart watches)
- ✓ Food and drink
- ✓ Purses, bags, and packages
- ✓ Books and magazines
- ✓ Sunglasses and personal keys
Medication rules in the Visiting Room are strict. No pills or medication of any type are allowed inside Lawrence Correctional Center's Visiting Room, with only two exceptions: physician-prescribed heart medication and a physician-prescribed asthma pump (inhaler). If you rely on any other medication, plan ahead so you're not turned away at the door.
Note: If you bring physician-prescribed heart medication into the Visiting Room, it must be in a properly labeled container.
There is a place to put the items you can't take inside. Small lockers are available in the Visiting Center, so you can secure your personal property before entering the Visiting Room.
Expect a security check when you arrive. All visitors, their vehicles, and their property are subject to search on state property. Keep your car and belongings simple and easy to inspect.
What you wear matters, too. Dresses, shorts, and skirts must extend to the knee. If you're unsure whether something will meet that standard once you're standing and moving around, go with a longer option.
