How Attorneys Register for Kentucky's Legal Mail Portal (for cases at Lee Adjustment Center)
Kentucky's Department of Corrections Legal Mail Portal lets attorneys register so their correspondence gets recognized as legal mail. Creating an account isn't just about setting up a login - you're also agreeing to the portal's Notice and Rules. Read those terms before you submit.
If you’re handling a case involving someone housed at Lee Adjustment Center, this is the registration process you’ll use to get set up for legal mail through the portal.

You'll need to upload proof of licensure in good standing during account creation. The portal accepts images or PDFs - just make sure it's from your Bar Association and clearly shows your active status. A clean, readable document means faster approval with no back-and-forth.

Your password needs to be at least 8 characters, include at least one lowercase letter, and have at least one number. Miss any of those requirements and the system won't let you proceed.
The portal may ask you to verify your phone number. You can receive the verification code by text or automated call - pick whichever works better for your office line or cell.
After you submit, the Department of Corrections reviews your request and emails you the decision. Approved? You'll get a confirmation. Rejected? The email will explain why. A rejection doesn't mean you're done - you can fix the issue and resubmit.
