The portal addresses a real problem: people soak paper in chemicals and mail it in, then break the paper into pieces to smoke or chew inside. These chemicals can cause serious illness or death. Attorney mail often gets less scrutiny than other mail, making it a valuable smuggling channel. The portal and its rules aim to close that gap while keeping legitimate legal communication flowing.

Portal rules focus on keeping contraband out of legal mail. Don't send documents you didn't generate yourself (or through trusted staff). The exception: official documents from another trusted source - think birth certificates, death certificates, affidavits, or similar.

Be careful with originals. If a document needs an original signature, arrange to speak with your client and have them sign in your presence rather than mailing it. Only mail an original if you've verified it's authentic and there's no other option.

  • Do not hand your envelope to a third party (including a client’s family) to mail.
  • Make sure every envelope is sealed by you or by trusted staff.
  • Place the sealed envelope directly into the mail stream without delay.
