What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) to Lee Adjustment Center

Lee Adjustment Center expects visitors to dress modestly - think "covered and conservative." Your outfit shouldn't draw attention or cause issues during screening. Undergarments must be worn at all times and can't be visible.

A safe bet: a shirt that fully covers your shoulders, cleavage, and midriff, plus closed or open-toe shoes (no bare feet). Do a quick mirror check before you leave - undergarments should stay hidden, not showing through or peeking out.

Prohibited List

  • Provocative, revealing, see-through, or excessively tight-fitting clothing
  • Shorts, dresses, or skirts that are more than 2 inches above the knee when standing
  • Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, or any sleeveless shirts
  • Spandex, leggings, or yoga pants worn as the outermost garment
  • Clothing displaying obscene language, images, or symbols, or gang-related insignia
  • Head coverings of any type (including hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, or hoods), unless it’s a religious head covering

Note: Leggings, yoga pants, and spandex can't be your outer layer. At Lee Adjustment Center, they're only allowed underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meet the length requirements. Religious head coverings are permitted but subject to search.

Staff enforce the dress code at the door, and their call is final. If your outfit violates the policy but can be fixed on the spot - covering up or changing clothes - you might get a second chance. If not, you'll be turned away for that visit.

What to Wear (and What Not to Wear) to Lee Adjustment Center
  1. Choose a modest, facility-appropriate outfit - Aim for conservative clothing that won’t be considered revealing, see-through, or excessively tight.
  2. Check your top for coverage - Your shirt needs to fully cover your shoulders, cleavage, and midriff.
  3. Confirm your bottom meets the length rule - Avoid shorts, dresses, or skirts that sit more than 2 inches above the knee when you’re standing.
  4. Skip sleeveless options - Tank tops, halter tops, tube tops, and any sleeveless shirts aren’t permitted.
  5. Don’t wear leggings/yoga pants as your outer layer - If you wear them at all, they must be underneath a skirt, dress, or pants that meet the length requirements.
  6. Avoid clothing with obscene or gang-related content - Obscene language/images/symbols and gang-related insignia are prohibited.
  7. Remove hats and other head coverings - Leave hats, caps, bandanas, scarves, and hoods behind unless you’re wearing a religious head covering.
  8. Make sure undergarments aren’t visible - Appropriate undergarments must be worn and must not show.
  9. Wear footwear - Bare feet aren’t allowed.
  10. Bring a backup plan - Staff have sole discretion; if there’s any chance your outfit could be questioned, have a way to cover up or change so you don’t lose the visit.

Security note: Religious head coverings are allowed but will be searched. Staff have final say on dress code compliance - if you're pushing the limits, expect to be asked to fix it or be turned away.
