How to Get on an Inmate's Visitor List at Lewis Unit (and How Often You Can Be Changed)

Each inmate at Lewis Unit can have up to 10 people on their Visitors List. If the list is full, someone has to come off before you can be added.

How often the list can change depends on the facility type. For institutional inmates, names can only be added or removed once every six months. Miss that window, and you're waiting until the next one.

Some facility types allow more frequent updates. State jail, Intermediate Sanction Facility (ISF), and Substance Abuse Felony Punishment (SAFP) inmates can have their Visitors List changed once every 60 days - much shorter than the six-month cycle.

Submitting a relationship request through the TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler doesn't automatically add you to the list. Your request gets sent to the inmate's unit for staff verification, and it stays in "pending approval" status until that review is complete.
