At Little Sandy Correctional Complex, brief physical contact is allowed at the beginning of a visit, as long as it stays within "good taste." A quick greeting (one brief kiss or a hug) is fine. After that, you'll need to follow normal visiting rules for the rest of your time.

The same "brief, in good taste" contact is allowed at the end of the visit. A quick goodbye, like one brief kiss or a hug, is acceptable.

Reminder: Open-mouth kisses are not allowed, even during the quick hello and goodbye.

During the visit itself, holding hands is not allowed. Even though you can share a brief hug or quick kiss at the start and end, you won't be able to sit and hold hands while you talk.

Warning: Sexual stimulation or sexual activity during a visit is strictly prohibited.

Staff enforce these boundaries closely. The safest approach is to keep all physical contact limited to the quick greeting and goodbye the facility allows. If contact crosses the line (open-mouth kissing, holding hands during the visit, or anything sexual), expect the visit to be stopped.

There's one exception for babies: infants ages 0–1 year may be held by the inmate during the visit. If you're bringing a baby, this is the only situation where LSCC's rules allow that kind of physical contact during the visit.

For kids older than infants, the rule is the opposite. They must be seated or held by the visiting parent or guardian, not the inmate. Minors also can't just show up and be admitted. Children under 18 may not visit unless they're approved and documented on the inmate's visiting list.

  • Infants under six months may visit without a Social Security number, as long as the person bringing them meets all visiting guidelines.

If you're planning a visit with children, think of it as two layers of rules: general contact limits for everyone (brief contact only at the beginning and end), plus child-specific rules about who may hold the child and whether a minor is approved to visit. Check the facility's child and minor visitation guidance before you go so you're not surprised at the door.
